Betsy Cohen

Founder

Betsy Cohen began designing and building web sites in 1997 and provided freelance services until she founded Positive Element in 2006. She has been involved with digital media since graduating summa cum laude from George Washington University, initially working in print design but quickly moving over to web.

Early in her career, Betsy learned the art of web project management working on projects for Marriott, The Apollo Group, and Cold Stone Creamery. Later she served as managing editor of a rich content website, and then she sharpened her design skills on web applications for STAT Doctors, Arizona Corporation Commission, Arizona First Things First, and Knight Transportation.

Since 2010, Betsy has focused on leading her team at Positive Element, and creating clean designs and great user experiences for her clients. She loves working with authors, consultants and small businesses to draw out their needs and the needs of their audience.

Betsy occasionally speaks at conferences on topics related to the web design process, user experience, and WordPress, and hosts a local WordPress “meetup” group once a month. She lives in Scottsdale, Arizona, is raising 3 digital-age children, and enjoys such analog activities as reading, yoga and hiking.

Maura Teal

With over four years development experience focused on WordPress, she is passionate about building great websites and helping them succeed. She is an active part of the WordPress community, has contributed to WordPress.org, served on the WordCamp Phoenix organizing committee, and co-organizes meetups for the Arizona WordPress Group.

Maura attended Arizona State University and completed her BA in Design Studies, with a focus in Graphic Design. She enjoys creative hobbies like photography and splits her free time between the occasional photo shoot, training horses, and traveling.

Betty Urquidi

WordPress Specialist

Betty Urquidi ventured into the ever-changing landscape of web development in 2002 as an HTML Production Specialist and QA Analyst. While a contractor for Intel, she oversaw and reviewed the work of the development team to ensure code quality and adherence to the company’s strict branding guidelines. Her primary focus the last few years has been on WordPress development.

Betty received a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Texas at El Paso. Whenever the cogs of daily life come to a halt, Betty daydreams incessantly, bends into improperly aligned sun salutations, meditates on the mountain at sunrise, hikes on nights the sky is lit up by a full moon, hits the treadmill, and reads.

Nir Cohen

WordPress Specialist

Nir moved to Arizona after finishing his service in the Israeli Air Force and worked his way up to the position of District Manager at Nick’s Restaurants. After helping Nick’s become one of the busiest Italian restaurant chains in Scottsdale, he started a restaurant consulting firm.

After his son was born, Nir decided it was time for a change. He enrolled in an intensive web intensive program at Western University, where he learned HTML, CSS, PHP, JavaScript, and more. Shortly after, he joined the RadiateWP team and has since become a pro at customizing and troubleshooting in WordPress.
